Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Generally, mammograms are extensive enough for doctors to determine a diagnosis, however some people may require further testing. It is important to follow up if your doctor calls you back for more testing.
We offer the following diagnostic procedures in clean, comfortable, private testing areas:
- Digital mammography with computer-aided detection, including 3D mammography.
- Minimally invasive breast biopsy (ultrasound or stereotactic guided).
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
- Ultrasound.
We work closely with breast specialists and radiologists, and can electronically send your high-quality images to any UPMC physician, expediting your treatment options.
Breast Cancer Treatment
Your breast cancer treatment plan will depend on your diagnosis and test results, goals and preferences, and overall health. The multidisciplinary teams at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and UPMC Magee-Womens have practiced together extensively.
